“Lasting change happens from the inside”

Celebrity stylist Rachel Gold has spent more than 35 years dressing some of the world’s biggest stars for magazine covers, television and the red carpet. But while great style can transform an appearance, Rachel believes true confidence begins within. Through the Rachel Gold Reinvention Method™, she combines signature style, mindset coaching, mindfulness and life strategy to help women step into the next chapter of their lives with confidence and authenticity…

So Rachel, what inspired you to add mindset coaching and personal transformation to your celebrity styling business?

The entertainment industry is exciting but it’s also incredibly demanding. My own mindfulness journey began as a way to manage the pressure and stress of working in that environment, and it taught me something invaluable: lasting change happens from the inside.

I realised I could create the perfect wardrobe for someone, but if they still carried limiting beliefs or lacked confidence, the transformation rarely lasted. That insight led me to combine my styling expertise with mindfulness and coaching techniques. It wasn’t a career change so much as a natural evolution – from transforming appearances to helping women transform the way they think, live and present themselves.

Tell us about your newly launched programme the Rachel Gold Reinvention Method™.

The Rachel Gold Reinvention Method™ is a holistic approach that combines signature style, mindset coaching, mindfulness and life strategy. Unlike traditional styling, which focuses only on appearance, or coaching, which focuses only on thoughts, my method works on both the woman and the wardrobe. The goal is to help women align who they are on the inside with how they present themselves to the world, creating a transformation that feels authentic, empowering and lasting.

What do you mean by bringing someone’s inner and outer worlds into alignment?

The way we dress communicates so much before we even speak. It’s not about wearing designer labels or following trends – it’s about presenting yourself with intention and self-respect. We’ve all had those days when we’ve thrown on whatever was nearest and wished we hadn’t bumped into someone we know! Equally, wearing an outfit you love can instantly lift your mood and confidence.

I always say, “Stop saving things for Sunday best – let every day be your best.” Organising your wardrobe and choosing clothes that make you feel good takes no more time than dressing without thought, but it can completely change how you carry yourself.

Many people think style is simply about clothes. Why does confidence begin within?

After more than 35 years in fashion, I’ve learnt that every outfit starts with a mindset. It’s not really about whether you have the confidence to wear the clothes or whether the clothes give you confidence – they work together. Today we’re surrounded by social media trends encouraging us to copy someone else’s style, but real confidence comes from expressing who you are, not imitating someone else. It’s less about what you wear and more about how you wear it and how it makes you feel.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learnt from working in the entertainment industry?

Showbusiness is exactly that – a show. Celebrities often wear clothes chosen for a brand or campaign rather than something they’d naturally choose themselves. It’s part of creating an image. Whether I’m dressing a celebrity or a private client, though, the principle is the same. Understanding your body shape, knowing which colours suit you and wearing clothes that reflect your personality helps you feel comfortable and confident. Authenticity is always more powerful than trying to be someone else.

Why do you focus particularly on women aged 45 and over?

My purpose is to help women become more present, reconnect with their values and learn to appreciate themselves again. Midlife is often a time of enormous change – whether that’s career, family, relationships or simply a shift in priorities. It can also be the perfect opportunity to reinvent yourself with clarity and confidence. That’s why my work resonates particularly with women over 45 who are ready to embrace their next chapter.

Finally, how can people find out more about your retreats and mentoring?

My Signature Style Wardrobe and Life Audit is the starting point for my one-to-one mentoring programmes. I also host Style Mindset workshops and retreats throughout the year. The next event, The Reinvention Edit, takes place on 12 September and is designed to help women refresh both their wardrobe and their mindset. I’d love to hear from anyone who feels ready for positive change.
